According to APRN, the budget currently before the Anchorage Municipal Assembly will mean big cuts for the city's libraries if it passes, and a report from a third-party research firm predicts a generally grim future. But, that's been in the news now for a while. The new development is that two non-profit organizations are asking concerned members of the public to attend a town-hall meeting this evening (Tues., 11/10) at Loussac Library to discuss the future of Anchorage's libraries. Listen to more here. For more, read the Anchorage Daily News's report here. Alaska Beat hates to hear of Anchorage's library troubles, but regretfully, we just caught ourselves imagining the mother of all book sales. We're betting people won't shout or wear matching red t-shirts at this town-hall meeting.
