According to KTVA, a Mat-Su Valley distillery has won high recognition for its tasty vodka. The prestigious Beverage Tasting Institute of Chicago placed "Permafrost Alaskan Vodka" in its highest category of the clear spirit. The distiller says that the main reasons his vodka tastes so good is that it uses Matanuska-grown potatoes and water from 10,000-year-old ice legally harvested from glaciers. In addition to the potato-based, super-premium "Permafrost," the company makes a grain-based, value-priced vodka called (ominously enough), "Frostbite." Read more here.
