A recent
New York Times editorial page has some pretty harsh words for Sen. Lisa Murkowski's fight against the EPA's treatment of greenhouse gases as pollutants, saying it thinks she wants to "unilaterally disarm" the agency. The Times runs through Murkowski's major potential tactics to defeat various climate change bills being prepared, including her recent suggestion to vote on a bill before it's ready (and shoot it down) in order to give a "barometric reading" on the Senate's feeling toward cap-and-trade legislation. Says the Times, "What it really gives us is a reading on how little the senator -- or for that matter, her party -- has to offer." Read more
