We can all breathe a little easier today; the spirit of old Alaska appears to be alive and well. According to the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, a 50-year-old Fairbanks man has been accused of using a bulldozer to rid his property of a representative of the U.S. Census Bureau. This is the first reported case of anyone in Alaska threatening a Census worker this year. Carey William Bliss allegedly refused to answer the Census worker's questions and grabbed survey forms from his hands. When the worker still didn't leave, Bliss allegedly climbed into his dozer, fired it up, and followed the fleeing worker's car out the driveway. Bliss wasn't arrested and has no previous criminal record, but he stands charged with misdemeanor fourth-degree assault. Unfortunately for the reading public, the phone number listed for Bliss lead the reporter to a fax machine. Read much more, here. |
