Appeals court: Lestenkof got a fair trial

According to Anchorage Daily News, the three judges constituting the Alaska Court of Appeals decided Friday (2 to 1) that the judge who tried Gregory Lestenkof on a second-degree assault charge made sufficient effort to ensure the trial was fair. Lestenkof, from St. Paul Island, appealed his conviction on the grounds that people from St. Paul are distinct, and the Dillingham jury he ended up facing was unfair because it was not a jury of his peers.
