The bus is a lie

According to Joe McGinness, writing for The Daily Beast, the tour bus featured heavily in media coverage of former Gov. Sarah Palin's ongoing promotional book tour is not being used by Palin herself (except between hotels and nearby book-signing venues). According to the report, members of HarperCollins' promotional team for Going Rogue have been riding on the bus from stop to stop, but the co-author herself has been flying between stops via rented private jet. McGinness notes that flying an author around on a book tour isn't unusual in the publishing industry (because it's the only sensible way to travel such vast distances) but that flying while fostering the image of a road trip is. Representatives from HarperCollins refused to comment when asked about the matter. Read more here. |
