According to Canada's Globe and Mail, an investigation by a panel of Canadian senators into their country's regulation of offshore oil industry, begun in April, has concluded and reports that there is no need for a ban or moratorium on such activity. The study was intended to allay fears that arose in Canada after the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster. The panel heard testimony from 26 people, representing regulatory agencies, oil companies, and an environmental group, and found that there's no need for alarm, but they did identify a few facts that cause concern.
