According to the Anchorage Press, the recent fine levied by the Alaska Public Offices Commission against Clean Team Alaska for malfeasance regarding the group's support of Proposition 1, the so-called "gag law" initiative, may have set a speed record as well as a record for the size of the penalty. The state agency usually takes heat for not completing its campaign finance investigations in time to keep allegedly improper funding from influencing elections, but not this time; the fine against Clean Team Alaska was issued 19 days before the August primary.
