Conservative Iowans irked at paying Palin

According to Politico, representatives of The Iowa Family Policy Center, a conservative group in the disproportionately electorially-important state, is trying to raise the money to hire Sarah Palin to appear. This wouldn't be so odd except for the fact that Iowa political advocacy groups don't ususally pay candidates to appear. Iowa's primary is so well-timed and influential, that most politicos pay their own way. That the Family Policy Center is trying to rake together Palin's speaking fee ($100,000) is upsetting other groups in the state. Some Iowa conservatives even take this as a sign that Palin's not really going to run for president. Read more from Politico here. And, read this funny take from New York Magazine about what Iowa's pay-for-appearance opponents are really saying. |
