Just when we thought that the state’s BMI index was becoming dangerously low, that the state would get all sinewy and self-sufficient, Alaska has learned this week that those dog days of diet are over, at least for the week. Every Friday, Alaska’s congressional delegation sends an email to the state’s media outlets delegation touting how much federal grant and loan-money comes to the state. The last two weeks have been so lean that we nixed our regular Fat Friday column. Over 15.5 million given to Cook Inlet? Cook inlet Native corporation is the same org that gave each share holder 50,000 in one year about 1995. Seems like some grant writers are making a killing off the federal dime and letting it be given away. Murkowski and Baggage encourage this and should be held accountable. |
