How can Palin be 'ambivalent' about HBO's McCain campaign movie?

Here we go again. Once more former, half-term Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is being portrayed as the sad, female victim of the big, bad boys in the media. Her political flunkies are on TV, online and in the press claiming a yet-to-be-released, made-for-TV movie called "Game Change" does a hatchet job on Palin's vice-presidential run in 2008. Everyone has been down this road many, many times before, so it's nothing new. Bad things get said about everyone who makes it into the public eye. No one is loved by everyone. The late Christopher Hitchens even picked on Mother Theresa, for God's sake, calling her "a fanatic, a fundamentalist, and a fraud." Palin trying to trade on what she and her flunkies see as her role as the special victim of America's left-wing media conspiracy is getting just a little old. But wait, this time there's more. Take it from Palin herself. What does she have to say about a movie that her chief aide says is replete with "distorted, twisted and invented facts"? By the way, what is an "invented fact"? Isn't the very nature of a "fact" that it can't be invented? Isn't it that things are either factual or, as Palin has been wont to say, someone is "making things up"? But that's not the interesting thing here. The interesting thing here is Palin's reaction to having her story distorted, twisted and invented. Chris Wallace of Fox News Sunday asked her about it over the weekend:
Excuse me? "I am ambivalent about it," Palin said. "Ambivalent" is, of course, not a new word like “refudiate,” which Palin invented back in 2010 before comparing herself to William Shakespeare. Ambivalent is a old word with a well-established meaning: "Of or pertaining to the coexistence within an individual of positive and negative feelings toward the same person, object, or action, simultaneously drawing him or her in opposite directions." The common definition of "ambivalent" is "love-hate." "Ambivalence was used by Freud to indicate the simultaneous presence of love and hate towards the same object" is the way ever-faithful Wikipedia describes it in outlining how our psyches work. Palin has a love-hate relationship with a movie she and her camp believe smears her? Say what? She made the hate part pretty clear to Wallace, saying yet-to-be-seen movie is all based on a "false narrative," that she's "sorry that millions of people are going to waste their time (watching it),” and that she's sure they have “more productive and constructive things to do." So where's the love? Does Palin simply not understand the meaning of the word "ambivalent,” or is there something here she just can't bring herself to publicly admit: She's hit the jackpot again! Just when the former Alaska governor was on the verge of becoming publicly irrelevant, America -- or some teensy, tiny slice of America -- has fixated on the one thing Palin likes to talk about, the one topic on which she could be considered an expert: Sarah Palin. Palin did admit to Wallace on Sunday that "there are so many other things that we need to be talking about," and then she ignored any and all of them in favor of talking about "Sarah Palin" and "Game Change," which is probably about as accurate a portrayal of reality as "Big Miracle" or "The Grey." They are movies. They take liberties with reality.

The C4Pers are all in a tizzy. They're all cancelling their HBO and declaring they'll never watch anything that Tom Hanks is involved in, ever ever ever again! In fact, they're showing their true colors again. "Betsey_Ross" writes: "Since we do not subscribe to HBO I can't get all huffy and write to HBO to say that I am finished with them." "Speppers69" (yes, really) advises: "You can still write HBO an email and tell them you have cancelled your HBO. If you have a provider like Comcast or Dish Network or Direct TV...they won't know if you are telling the truth or not." And eight more C4Pers "liked" speppers's advice. So, remember, Palinistas - it's OK to lie if it's to defend that modern Esther, Osarah Bin Palin. Oh, that stuff in the Holly Bibble about, what was it, "Thou shalt not bear false witness", you can ignore that, as long as it's in a good cause, right? Kind of like what the Christian god-botherers accuse the Muslim god-botherers of doing.

I wonder if she views this negative attention as a publicity stunt to keep herself relevant?

Slow "news day" Craig? Stick to news that we can do something about, not what the SNL crew wants to see.

Maybe she is ambivalent cause she hasn't seen the movie yet. On account of it hasn't been released yet, duh.

I voted for Obama because Palin was on the ticket with Mccain. Her selection for vp by Mccain indicated that Mccain is an idiot. What does it say about the Alaska repubicans that they nominated her for governor and that the Alaska voters elected her?

Thinking that Quitter's PAC and such made their own film with twisted and distorted facts, that crashed and burned on the campaign trail.

I noticed that when she said it, and just thought to myself "well, another word she doesn't know the meaning of". She should stick to referring to the panties of actual governing governors. Or puppy kickers, or testicles of the president, or limp and impotent reporters. She has such a classy vocab. She sure knows the nasty terms but doesn't have much of a hold on simple concepts like "ambivalent".

It's pretty certain she doesn't know the meaning of the word, and used it thinking she was expressing, "I really have no feelings or care about it at all; it's not even on my mind." Oh, she cares.

Typical, Left wing sheeples' news media orgs trying to distract the population with slime bag opinions instead of the hair raising truthful facts about Barak HUSSEIN Obama Bin Laden, and his envoy of degenerates, switch hitters, half truthers, and deception artists. Does anyone in the libby media even PRETEND to have a conscience any more? I find it tragic and ironic that the sheeple following the liberal bent are not considering the long-term effects that this occupier of the oval office ( I will never refer to the scumbag with any title) and his minions' policies will have on the lives of their children and grandchildren.

"Palin has branded herself, for better or worse, as America's political lightning rod" Yet Craig, you put her in the "news" again... Says more about your desire for the limelight than hers.

Seen Mrs Palin's Presidents' Day video on her PAC website? My dear, you simply MUST see it. It's hilarious. Just as that big, costly, fuel-guzzling campaign tour bus was NOT a campaign tour bus, this video is NOT a campaign video, and certainly NOT intended to motivate Mrs Palin's acolytes to further raid their hard-earned retirement funds to fill the SarahPAC coffers. Seriously, do her fans really never wonder what all those "consultants" do? Do they really never read the PAC's financial disclosure statements?

The only reason that "She" has any relevancy at all is because media outlets like The Star, The Enquirer and The Dispatch cannot seem to help themselves... They continue to wait with sweaty palms and bated breath the next chance to "report" on her. Of course from their point of view she is nothing but a golden opportunity to make even more money from the sheeple who cannot help but read any sort of drivel as long as her name is included in the headline next to the Advertisement.....

You are right except you left olf blogs like the Huffington Post and politico that practically report her every tweet! Once again poor Sarah Palin will play the victim and use it to seperate some fools from their money! The ral victims are the American people who have been forced to listen to her god aweful, chalkboard scratching voice trashing our president simply because she is jealous because he has what she never will! No amount of PR wil change peoples minds about Sarah Palin, she is and always will be Alaska's embarressment and America's joke! The only people who love her are fools the she takes money from and the late night comedians!

I doubt she was "ambivalent" about it. She probably threw cans at the refrigerator or something. She probably doesn't even know what that word means; somebody told her she would sound intelligent. And for those who think everything in the movie is fake, if groups of people say the same things about somebody and are not in the same room or in direct communication with one another, most likely their statements are true. Some parts--untrue, sure. It's a movie. The book--absolutely reliable.

@caseyhardy: Yeah, now that's rich. Come on. Really??

Goofy 'Game Change' is a rubbishy Hollywood farce which was financed, produced, directed, written & acted by the usual motley loony-left crew of Democrat supporters & contributors whom you would expect to distort Gov. Sarah Palin's record and attempt to slander her. She is as far above them as a golden eagle is to a pack of scampering voles. |
