Independent audit of Begich administration released

According to practically every Alaska news outlet this morning, the independent audit of the final months of former Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich's administration is in, and auditors conclude that the blame for the budget shortfall facing the city is the fault of both the mayor and the assembly -- the mayor's fault for not submitting monthly budget reports and the assembly's fault for not demanding them. The Anchorage Daily News posted the first report, but KTUU-TV, and The Associated Press (via the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner), all have solid follow-ups. |
