Cliff Hudson came to Alaska in 1948, and for decades he flew mountaineers from Talkeetna to the base of Mount McKinley. His wife Ollie remembers how well he treated everyone, and how well he knew how to fly. "He was well loved through the years by the hunters that came through, and the mountaineers," she said. "I guess anybody that met him." Ollie said that she loved flying with Cliff and went as often as she was able, but that as their business grew she manned the phones and he handled the flying. You can read the Anchorage Daily News story about Hudson here. The YouTube clip is the preview to a 2007 documentary about Hudson titled "Portrait of a Legend: Talkeetna's Cliff Hudson." |
