McAdams fires up Dems at Unity Dinner

Democratic U.S. Senate hopeful Scott McAdams invigorated the Democrats' Unity Dinner Wednesday, partly because he'd just found himself in the national spotlight, thanks to the disintegration of Lisa Murkowski. But the 10-minute speech also highlights the political acumen and capability of this small-town mayor. "It's been an interesting 24 hours. I've slept for one of them," he quips, then talks about how two Republican parties -- presumably the Miller faction and the Murkowski faction -- have led to "the ministry of one unified Democratic Party." "I see Joe Miller aligned behind a Hummer with armed guards march through a family parade in Eagle River," he tells the crowd, and goes on with a litany -- to much applause -- of all the things about Joe that make good Democrats happy. Extreme right-wing agenda kinds of things. "I've almost kind of started to kind of love Joe in a weird sick kind of way." |
