McCain camp: Palin account 'all fiction'
|
Nov 16, 2009
According to Politico, Steve Schmidt and other former aides to the McCain campaign dispute nearly everything Sarah Palin wrote about them and the campaign in her upcoming memoir. They call it "self-serving," "revisionist" and "fictional. "Palin alleges that the campaign's troubles came from McCain aides who went overboard in telling her what to do and say. She reserves special scorn for Schmidt (whom she calls "grim-faced" and "rotund") by relating an anecdote about a discussion over her appearance during the campaign. Schmidt says some staffers were concerned about the then-governor's weight loss on the trail, so he offered to hire her a nutritionist. Palin took it as more evidence that she wasn't allowed to be herself. The post contains a bunch more, including Palin's swipe that McCain staffers smoked too much and used too much profanity. Read more post-campaign drama here. And, check out this report from the Huffington Post about internal campaign emails they obtained seeming to contradict more of Palin's story. |
