If you don't think you know much about the Republican primary candidates for lieutenant governor (and even if you think you know enough already), you should probably read the Anchorage Press's substantial cover story this week. It outlines the three candidates and gives the lay of the land in the early going of the campaigns since current Lt. Gov. Craig Campbell announced he wouldn't be running. Eddie Burke continues to try distancing himself from the execrable persona he created as a talk show host on Anchorage's KBYR; Alaska Rep. Jay Ramras continues his strong calls for an in-state natural gas line; and Mead Treadwell continues to say things, to many of his supporters' dismay, that indicate he really did mean to file for lt. gov, not full gov., after all.
