According to Alaska Newspapers Inc. (via The Tundra Drums), Crowley Petroleum Distribution discovered that because of a "misunderstanding," the air cargo service contracted to airlift gasoline into the village of McGrath charged too much. Crowley says that that the mistake contributed 72 cents to the recent, sudden and shocking rise in gas prices there, which jumped from $5.97 per gallon to $9.20 per gallon in a single day. Crowley has reduced the price to $8.48 per gallon and has begun issuing refunds to customers who bought gasoline at the incorrect, higher price. The rebates total $67, and most individuals are due less than $5. Read ANI's long interview with Crowley's vice president of sales, here. |
