Murkowski 'at a moment of pause'

It's been one week since U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski conceded the Republican primary to Joe Miller, but on Tuesday it became clear she might not be done yet. "The output of support from everyday Alaskans coming out of the woodwork has been so strong that it's given her a moment of pause," said Steve Wackowski, her campaign spokesman. "The climate is different now than it was a week ago." The talk in Alaska political circles over the holiday weekend centered on whether Murkowski would continue her campaign, either as a write-in candidate or on the Libertarian ticket. Last week the Alaska Libertarian Party had given mixed signals on whether they would make room for Murkowski on their ticket. An Associated Press story reported that Murkowski met the Libertarian candidate Tuesday and quoted her as saying she's not a quitter and is "still in this game." A Facebook page called "Write-in Lisa Murkowski for Senator in November" had 909 fans as of Tuesday afternoon. "The climate is different now than it was a week ago," Wackowski said.
