In Murkowski/Miller showdown, 15,272 votes will be counted Tuesday

The Alaska Division of Elections announced late Monday night that they'll be counting 15,272 ballots Tuesday. That may be enough to decide the race between U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski and Joe Miller, which has been stuck in a painful limbo since the real Election Day ended with Miller up 1,668 votes. Of course, the sun will still set on Tuesday's count with about 10,000 ballots left uncounted, so it's also possible this thing will stretch out (painfully) until the rest of the votes are counted on Sept. 3 and 8. That will leave time for even more analysis and debate by shifty reporters with inches to fill. It's a little late to be wading into the intricacies of race predictions (like a bloody mary, campaign predictions are better in the morning) but take a look for yourself at where the ballots are coming from. And if you see a trend that bodes ill for either Murkowski or Miller, pop it up in the comments section below (You charming wonk, you.) Update: An inquisitive reader wrote in and asked for a source that shows each house district's location and representative. I should have included that last night (hard to spot trends without that information) but here it is now. Also, The Division of Elections sent out an email Monday morning saying they forgot to include the 430 absentee ballots from House District 12 in their email last night, so that brings the total number of ballots to be counted Tuesday to 15,702.
