NBA lockout ends, Anchorage charity game canceled

Alaska Dispatch

Some good news, some bad news, Anchorage basketball fans. The NBA will have a season this year, but according to KTUU, some of its stars won't be putting on a live show in Anchorage.

The new, tentative labor agreement reached Saturday between the NBA players and owners has put an end to the charity basketball game that NBA star Mario Chalmers had been organizing for Anchorage on Dec. 1.

The NBA training camps start on Dec. 9 to prepare players for the shortened season, and players' agents have pressured them to cancel plans to play in other games so close to resuming professional play.

People who bought tickets for the event can obtain a refund by contacting Ticketmaster or the Sullivan Arena box office.
