New poll, detailed look at Alaska's GOP Senate Primary

New poll results by Public Policy Polling that look specifically at how Alaskans voted in the Republican US Senate primary seem to confirm what many Alaskan political watchers have been suspecting, namely that Sarah Palin's endorsement, as an endorsement anyway, may not have been a major factor, but that the Tea Party Express was. The poll found that Miller did very well among Tea Party-identified Republicans or those who think incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski and the Republican Party aren't conservative enough. It's worth mentioning that PPP's blog post summarizing the poll results calls the race a Miller victory, but that's not accurate. Miller is holding a 1,668-vote lead with more than 25,000 ballots left to count, with the first count scheduled to begin in various places around Alaska today (Tues., 8/31). Aside from prematurely calling the race, PPP finds interesting numbers. Read the summary and find a link to the full results, here. |
