Not overheard in Anchorage

It was just a matter of time before Alaska gained an entry into the "Sh-t people say" Internet fad trending on YouTube. Tracking the spread of an Internet meme is never an easy task, but if you want to break down how an Alaska video is racking up the hits by highlighting things you'd never hear a resident of Anchorage say, you have to go back to the beginning. In 2009, part-time comedy writer Justin Halpern started a Twitter feed with the handle "Sh-t my dad says." Full of foulmouthed observations and witticisms quoted from Halpern's father, the Twitter account became quite an out-of-nowhere success. And thus a viral sensation was born: tweets from "Sh-t My Dad Says" were converted into a bestselling nonfiction book, and even inspired a short-lived television series starring William Shatner and stylized for the networks as "$#*! My Dad Says." But the "Sh-t people say" meme wasn't done yet. Enter "Sh-t Girls Say," which, according to Know Your Meme, originated in spring 2011 as a similar Twitter feed, this time parodying stereotypical things a young girl or woman might say. That feed inspired a YouTube video, which in turn inspired other YouTube videos. Now, you can find everything from "Sh-t Nobody Says" to the inevitable "Sh-t dogs say." And of course, an Alaskan, Brian Dollerhide, has made an entry, with a video entitled "Sh-t People in Anchorage (Never) Say." As with all the "Sh-t people say" videos, this one thrives on its truthful moments, a collection of small quips that you'd never hear someone from Anchorage say. Our personal favorites? "That motorhome needs to slow down," "No, it's a pretty nice restaurant -- nobody's going to be wearing jeans," and "I'm getting the crack in this windshield fixed immediately." The video is sure to make some other Alaskans angry though, with digs at both Wasilla and Fairbanks thrown in for good measure. It's racking up the hits, too -- after about a week, the video had already accumulated more than 8,000 views. What do you think? What are some things you'd never hear someone say in Alaska?

Gotta love it. No digs about how "safe" the city is?
