Ouch! Grim poll numbers
Alaska Dispatch |
Jan 19, 2010
According to a new CBS News [.pdf] random telephone poll, calling both land-line and cell phones, the vast majority of Americans don't want Sarah Palin to run for the White House in 2012. In this instance, "vast" means 71 percent. Only 21 percent of respondents said they wanted to see her make that run. Political affiliation subgroup splits are equally grim, with only 8 percent of Democrats, 30 percent of Republicans and 25 percent of Independents saying they want her to run for president. According to the CBS document [.pdf], The overall poll numbers "could have" a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points; of course, subgroups have higher error rates, but exact figures weren't given for them. Read the CBS poll results here. If you're not into raw numbers, read CNN's version of the poll here. Finally, check out this opinion of a commentator at True/Slant who thinks this poll pretty much means bupkis, and read this entry at Politics Daily about how Palin still isn't ruling out a run in 2012. Tangentially, that last link contains a mention of Glenn Beck calling Palin, "the most guarded woman I've ever seen in my life." |
