Palin billed as speaker but won't show (again)

According to the Anchorage Daily News, ChangePoint, an Anchorage mega-church, has been mistakenly advertising that Sarah Palin will speak at a fundraiser it will host for the Alaska Family Council's campaign to overturn a law that allows teens to have abortions without notifying their parents. Palin's spokeswoman said that Palin never agreed to speak at the event, and that Palin is in the Lower 48 and can't come back for the event. She also declined to say where exactly Palin is or what she's doing. Church officials, however, seem a little crestfallen to us. They maintain that they were speaking with Palin "contacts", and that they felt sure she would attend. Because of the conflicting stories, the church preferred to keep the contacts anonymous. The story also quotes Palin's book broker saying that Palin is devoting lots of time and energy to her book project, which is due out in spring 2010 from Harper Collins. Read more here. We just love that last part, the idea that Palin is suffering in front of a keyboard, hunching toward the perfect word. How delicious to think that we're all the same in front of a blank page.
