Is Palin losing AK voters?
Alaska Dispatch |
May 12, 2010
On May 6, Rasmussen Reports pollsters conducted a telephone survey of 500 random Alaskans, and only 41 percent of them responded that they would vote for former Gov. Sarah Palin if she ran as the GOP nominee for president against a generic Democratic opponent. 48 percent said they would not vote for her in that case, and 11 percent was undecided. The pollster suggests that Palin being upside-down among Alaskan voters could be due to their perception that her actions reflect poorly upon their state. 45 percent said so, and 38 percent said the opposite, with 12 percent saying her actions have no impact on perceptions of the state. What's more, Palin's favorability ratings in the poll were practically an even split among the Alaskans polled: 49 percent viewed her at least "somewhat favorably," and 50 percent viewed her at least "somewhat unfavorably." The general poll has a margin of error of +/- 4.5 percentage points. Read more from Rasmussen, here. It's an unlikely possibility, but we imagine it would be a devastating insult if Sarah were to end up winning a GOP presidential nomination and Alaska ended up choosing her Democratic opponent. A devastating insult. |
