Palin memoir fast-tracked
Alaska Dispatch |
Sep 28, 2009
According to the Associated Press (via MSNBC, here), we won't have to wait much longer now for Sarah Palin's memoir; it has been placed on an accelerated publishing schedule, and will soon be announced to hit the shelves Nov. 17. And we really do mean "hit the shelves" -- the thing runs 400 pages. The title? Going Rogue, which, depending on whom one asks, either comes from the Oct.20, 2009 Slate magazine piece which posed the question about Palin's behavior during the McCain campaign, or comes from what Palin's spokeswoman said about Walt Monegan, the former Alaska Commissioner of Public Safety at the center of the so-called 'Troopergate' matter. Of course, then there's the most likely interpretation: It comes from Palin's iconic winking attitude toward convention. The earlier publication date leaves just four months between the announcement of the deal and the first run (1.5 million copies!), and according to Politico, copyeditors and fact checkers are rushing to make sure it meets the clamoring public in good shape. A fun fact: the paperback edition of Winston Churchill's memoir of his own early life runs 400 pages too. Another fun link: the dictionary definitions of "rogue."
