According to KTUU-TV, Gov. Sean Parnell signed a bill into law that will make "Pick. Click. Give." permanant. The service allows Alaskans to donate money to local non-profits with the click of a mouse as they file online for their annual Permanent Fund dividend checks, but was set to expire this year. The new law makes it permanent. In the last two years, the service has allowed Alaskans to donate $1.5 million to various organizations and University campuses. At the signing, Gov. Parnell said, "Out of the abundance of opportunity that Alaska has given each of us, it is with our thankful hearts that we, too participate and give back to Alaska. So SB 171 has now become the law of Alaska." Read more, here. Also on Thursday, Parnell also signed bills exempting Alaska-produced firearms, accessories and ammunition from federal firearms regulation if they remain in the state, and a bill to allow families of the recently deceased to receive permanent fund dividend checks.
