The North Slope Borough Police Department announced that they intercepted a package containing five pounds of marijuana destined for Barrow on Tuesday.

Borough police detectives seized the package as part of an ongoing investigation. It was being shipped from Anchorage to Barrow. Both sender and receiver were Barrow residents, but police are withholding their names at this time.

The street value of the package is estimated at $150,000, and comes with a fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance charge. This is a class C felony offense that can land a person up to five years in jail and a fine of up to $50,000.
