According to the Alaska Star, Chugiak and Eagle River residents are gaining capacity to recycle trash and save landfill space. Alaska Waste recently held a grand opening for a newly expanded drop-off recycling center, and is offering expanded curbside pick-up for recyclable materials. Currently, the company offers curbside pick-up to 1,500 residents, but it will soon offer 6,500 additional households the service. Subscriptions for the convenience run around $9.84 per month, and one-bin pick-up is set to begin on June 9. City officials are hoping more people will recycle more as the practice becomes more convenient so that they can save space in the landfill. Read much more, here. |
