Rejected 'Going Rogue' cover shots

Politico has posted a story about the cover-shoot for former Gov. Sarah Palin's upcoming book after speaking with John Keatley, the Seattle-based photographer who was hired by HarperCollins to photograph Palin. Keatly didn't disclose any bombshells or anything, the mark of a consummate professional, but he did say that all of the other portraits he'd seen of Palin were "uncomfortable," and that he wanted to do it differently. The shoot that resulted in the book's chosen cover image happened at Hatcher Pass, just outside of Wasilla, and Keatley said, "I think she did really seem to come alive when we were in Hatcher pass. There was something noticeable about it. She seemed to be very content." Read more from Politico here. At the end of that article, Keatley says it was then still up in the air who owns the photos that weren't chosen for the book cover. But, if you're interested in seeing which images didn't make the cut, Keatley posted them on his website just long enough for Gawker.com to make a grab for them. The images are there, but fair warning, so is a bit of sniping at Palin. Check out all the glamour here. |
