Reward for kidnapped barista grows to $41,000

According to the Anchorage Daily News, James Koenig, the father of Samantha Koenig, the 18-year-old woman Anchorage police believe was abducted last Wednesday at a drive-through espresso stand, says the reward offered for the safe return of his daughter has grown through donations to more than $41,000. The original reward being offered by Koenig for information leading to his daughter's safe return was $12,500, but when news of Samantha's disappearance started spreading nationwide, that number increased dramatically. Koenig says new donations are still coming in, and friends have been collecting money locally from donation cans. "It's growing every minute," Koenig told the Daily News. "Family, friends, unknown, anonymous. It's coming from all over the United States." A Facebook page has been set up to facilitate the distribution of reward posters, and it has more than 4,800 "likes." Though Anchorage police possess surveillance video showing the apparent abduction, they are still hoping to hear from anyone who may have noticed anything unusual the night Samantha disappeared. The coffee stand she was last seen at is the Common Grounds Coffee shack, in the parking lot of the Alaska Club at 630 E. Tudor Road. Call the Anchorage Police Department at (907) 786-8900 if you have any information that may help the investigation.

It's odd that police are not releasing the surveillance video of the abduction. What are they trying to hide? Someone might recognize the person, even by the way they moved. What are police are afraid of - why won't they release the vid? It's suspicious, especially in light of the rapes the Anchorage Police were committing in the Police Substations around town. |
