Sen. Murkowski gets a challenger

According to the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, Fairbanks attorney Joe Miller has declared that he will run against incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski in the upcoming Republican primary election. Miller announced his candidacy in Juneau on Monday, and the News-Miner reports that three state legislators gave him their support: Sen. John Coghill (R-North Pole), Sen. Fred Dyson (R-Eagle River), and Rep. Tammie Wilson (R-North Pole). Miller's press release says he wants to run for the U.S. Senate in part because he fears the federal government is headed for fiscal disaster, and more broadly, he feels the nation is at a crossroads, with one road leading to “head-long plunge into socialism and more government control.” Read more, here. |
