Soft ground grounds plane

Saturday night David Eibeck, a 45-year-old from Anchorage, was flying his Cessna 180 along the edge of Cook Inlet. According to Alaska State Troopers, the pilot was landing a few miles southwest of the Drift River Airport when the ground "went from solid to soft." His black and white plane nosed over and he couldn't fly out. Eibeck, who was not injured, called for help. Troopers sent out a helicopter, which picked Eibeck up and took him to Anchorage International Airport. Too bad Eibeck didn't have a ground crew to help him free his plane. |
