State crime lab funding stalled (still)

In the last week of the legislative session, budget items seem like so much loess drifting around state government's moraine on the shifting breezes of lawmakers' favor. But according to KTVA-TV, a plan to increase the effectiveness of Alaska's totally overwhelmed crime lab appears to have wide support. However, there seems little consensus on the size of the project or how it should be funded. The lab's supervisor told KTVA that lawmakers aren't using the right terms to evaluate the project. They should be using "rapes and murders" not "years and money." Read more here. |
