At 9:03 Monday morning, a vehicle crossed the center line of the Parks Highway in Wasilla and crashed head-on into another vehicle, according to Alaska State Troopers. Each vehicle had one occupant. One driver died on the scene, and the other died shortly after transport. The Mat-Su Frontiersman reported that a fluffy white lap dog that had been riding in the minivan seemed to be in good health. A Trooper dispatch released the name of the drivers Monday afternoon. Yolanda Haggard was driving the 2006 Chevrolet Pacifica that crossed the center line and hit the 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Angela Johnson. Haggard was 54 years old and lived in Chugiak, while Johnson was 42 and lived in Wasilla. Haggard was pronounced dead at the scene, while Johnson was transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center before being pronounced dead. Both women were wearing their seat belts, according to Troopers.
