It's that time of year again: WEIO is here! According to the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, the 49th World Eskimo-Indian Olympics kicks off -- literally, the first event will be the toe kick finals -- today (Wednesday) beginning at 11 a.m., and opening ceremonies will follow this evening. Read more of the preview here, but if you're familiar with WEIO, you might be able to skip parts of it. The News-Miner also has an editorial briefly treating WEIO's history and significance. A complete schedule of events for the four-day festival of Native culture and athletics at the Carlson Center in Fairbanks can be found at WEIO's home on the Web. |
