From pipelines and poll data to debates and death panels, there's never a dull moment on the Tilt-A-Whirl of Alaska politics. Armed only with a notebook, a pencil and an unhealthy obsession with energy and policy issues, Political Animal Rena Delbridge is buckled in and ready for the ride.

Rena arrived in Alaska in June 2008 as a reporter for the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, and was quickly swept into the chaos of Sarah Palin's national run for the vice-presidency. She packed her bags for Juneau that January to cover the state Legislature. In those 90 days, she reported on Palin's relationship with lawmakers; the controversial federal stimulus plan; state spending; an array of energy issues, ranging from oil and gas taxes to renewable energy incentives; as well as the people, politics and personalities that set up shop in the Capitol for 90 days each year.

Now writing for Alaska Dispatch as a senior political and energy reporter, Rena is looking forward to covering her second session.
