According to the West Sussex Gazette, the event's organizer, Pastor Kevin Taylor, was captivated by the WEIO competitors he saw on an in-flight ‘bizarre sports' program on his way to Egypt. He decided that putting on a similar event would be a great community event. Pastor Taylor noted that this event is for fun and community, not serious competition. Read the West Sussex story here. We think the world records are safe, especially Elijah Cabinboy's record 97-inch Alaska High Kick, set during this year's WEIO. Read the Tundra Drums report on this year's games here, and check out the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, here, to see a photo of Cabinboy in action at the 2008 games.
