After a long winter, summer has returned to Alaska. Hillsides are greening up, mosquitoes are cropping up and Alaska's world-renowned wildlife are mating up and procreating. A bird enthusiast in the state's largest city wants everyone to witness the splendor of migratory birds rearing newborns on a quiet, urban lake.
Check out the Alaska Loon Cam to watch a pair of Pacific loons nest, forage and give birth in downtown Anchorage. And just down the highway, other babies are cropping up. But it wasn't all bison calves and baby birds this week. A high-profile militia trial reached a pinnacle Thursday when former security guard and FBI mole "DropZone" Bill Fulton took the stand to discuss his role helping Feds build a case against the militiamen, including leader Schaeffer Cox. Another former FBI informant, disgraced Anchorage oil man Bill Allen, also made the news after a report probing the botched Ted Stevens proseceution made mention of Allen's alleged plot to murder his nephew over some "hillbilly shit."
