Right as rain: Come end of August each year, as tourist crowds dwindle and weather turns cooler, Alaskans look toward the Matanuska Valley and its annual, two-week showcase of arts, crafts, lumber jacks, oversized vegetables and Alaska kitsch at the State Fairgrounds in Palmer.
