Before the Great Alaska Earthquake rocked Southcentral Alaska nearly 50 years ago, few Alaskans were concerned about megathrust earthquakes, climate change, or restoring salmon runs in Eklutna Lake. The latter might be the project with the most immediate impact in Alaska.

Rep. Lynn Gattis, R-Wasilla, and 12 other state representatives have sponsored a new, faster way to give Alaska's wildlife away. Their bill will double the number of big game permits donated to organizations, and will remove a portion of law that prohibits them from being used for political lobbying or campaign purposes.
